Hi all. I know its been a very long time since I last posted anything on my blog, and I shall now try and keep you all updated on what's been happening with me, and hopefully, I wont leave it so long in-between posts.
The biggest thing that has happened in my life recently is that I went to the Download Festival. The day itself was awesome! and I loved every act I saw, especially Hollywood Undead and Limp Bizkit! however, it was after the day had ended that I enjoyed the experience a little bit less.
While we were at Download, it was pointed out to me that I had caught the sun and I didn't really think much of it, as I tend to burn easily. It wasn't until I returned home that I noticed how drastically I had caught the sun. So before going to bed, I applied a lot of after sun, and hoped it wouldn't look so red and burnt in the morning. however this wasn't the case, and when i woke in the morning, my entire face was covered in blisters, and after sun was only helping the moment i applied it, and as soon as it had been absorbed into my skin i was in pain again. So my dad went to the local chemist to ask for advice to what to actually use, and they told him to take me to the hospital, as skin shouldn't blister so quickly because of sunburn. so we went to the hospital, which wasn't any help at all really, all they really did was confirm the fact that i had second degree burns to the face and shoulders, and that because of the blisters they couldn't supply me with any cream or gel and they just advised to continue using after sun with Aloe Vera.
After a few days the blisters on my cheeks and my chin burst and my skin started to look like a snake shedding its skin, not very attractive! I continued to use the after sun, and then the same thing happened to my forehead, so now i was thinking that i was on the way to being completely healed. this wasn't the case, and after the blisters had burst and my skin had shed, the skin underneath was really dry, red, raw and overly sensitive, and nothing would help at all. so ten days after getting the second degree burns i went to the doctor, and thankfully they provided me with a prescription for Epaderm which is commonly used for extremely dry skin conditions, and it basically stops any moisture escaping your skin, and it also gets absorbed into your skin, and after a few days, my face was near enough back to normal.
I know a few people will comment about how I should of been wearing sunscreen or, sunglasses or something like that. however, normally I will admit I am a bit careless when it comes to using sunscreen, and I very rarely use it, but for a change I coated myself in factor 30, several times during the day, and I also wore sunglasses! I have no idea why I got burnt as badly as I did even though I used factor 30, it was the same make I used in South Africa last summer, and when I used it the sun never touched me. I would hate to of found out what would of happened to me if I hadn't been using factor 30! I have now gone out and brought some factor 50, ideal for sun intolerant skin, which I most certainly have! My fingers are crossed that the same thing wont happen to me when I go to the V festival at the end of August!
Bye for now! x
