Computers! Love them or hate them?!?

Computers

I think computers are a magical thing. They are one of the greatest inventions and as sad as it sounds I feel completely lost without my computer and without my broadband!

However, Computers can also be the most frustrating inventions ever! They are great when they work, but as soon as it decides it doesn’t want to do anything they are horrid. In recent months I have had nothing but troubles from my computer!

I’ll start with the details of my old computer. My then boyfriend (now ex) built it for me, and it was a perfect piece of machinery. At the time I believe it was a computer with a high spec, and it did the job, I had it for 6 years when I had enough as it was getting really slow, and I was always running out of space, I brought an external hard drive but after a few months I figured I would treat myself and buy a brand new top of the range computer.

I went to a local business where my dad brought his new computer from, which he was very happy with, and so I thought I would go there because of the recommendation I received. I brought the computer, and a bunch of legitimate software. When I got it home after they had loaded office and antivirus software on to the computer and the screen froze, this puzzled me so I thought I hadn’t plugged the monitor in correctly. So I plugged everything back in and after a short period of time it happened again. Again I didn’t really think much of it. However, sporadically this kept on happening, and it was slowly getting worse. I would have just loaded up the computer and it would freeze, or blue screen, yet other times I could be on it for hours and it would work like a dream. I couldn’t take it back after a few weeks because I was busy with uni, so I had to make sure I could complete all my assignments, and after my deadline dates I returned it to the shop two months after purchasing it. I explained my problem and they then kept the system for a week. During this time the computer did not freeze, or blue screen once, so they returned the computer to me informing me that the system was working perfectly and that it shouldn’t crash.

Well... what do you know, within a few minutes it froze. By this point uni work had piled up again, and so I had to cope with it freezing and blue screening, this continued until uni was finished for the year and I started to keep count of the times it would go wrong. In one week it had frozen and blue screened a total of 27 times. And considering this was now only four months old it drove me crazy, I got a new computer in order not to have those problems, and I ended up buying a computer which was even worse.

So I returned it back to the shop, where they again kept it for a week, in this time they informed me that they did get it to crash, so they did a dell diagnostic scan, as well as a spyware and a virus scan, but those came up clean so their option was to reinstall windows. After they did so, I was able to have my computer back when I was told that I shouldn’t have any more problems with it.

As soon as I had it back home and plugged in it crashed. I am a complete retard when it comes to my emotions and expressing my anger, and so because I was so fed up and angry and the pile of shit which was my computer I broke down crying, it didn’t help anything, but never mind, so I got my dad to phone them up to tell them it still happened. One of the chaps that work there said that he will come out and check it out in its own environment. While he was here he updated the graphics card drivers and again said it should be fine. Oh how silly was I to believe him. So the next day I returned my computer back to the shop where they would work on it once again! After having it for another week and after changing the power supply and the RAM they finally let me have it back saying it should be sorted.

Well blow me down with a feather. I’ve had it back for two nights now, and so far not one issue, it hasn’t froze once, no sign of a blue screen. So looks like the chaps at the shop have finally sorted the problem. It took them more time than it should of, but to be honest, now I’m just glad it’s working perfectly. Touch would I will never have to see them again!

As for now the technological uprising has been put on hold. I have no luck with any technology so I know it is coming one day, and I will be their first victim!

Bye for Now! x
